The World Community Service
Committee has recommended and the board has approved that our club adopt the
Water System and outdoor showers for the Oasis of Hope in Matamoras, Mexico. Our club has
committed $1,000 and we have commitments from several of our Rotarians that total another
$1,000. We are in the process of contacting clubs in Matamoras to see if we can apply for
grants from the Rotary Foundation or our district. If you are interested in making a tax deductible donation so that we can purchase Hygiene kits to be distributed to those living in the shanty town, if you are interested in going to Matamoras (accommodations will be in Brownsville Texas) between December 29th and March 1, 2002 to help with the project, or if you have questions regarding this project, please contact Dave Byrne, Mark Petz, Ryan Peacock or Sheryl Meyer.
